Winter Chill Stained Glass Suncatcher - Art Deco Drops

Winter Chill is part of my Seasons Drops Collection, a series of handcrafted stained glass suncatchers inspired by the changing character of the year. Each Drop features a distinctive teardrop silhouette with an Art Deco-inspired fan design at the base and a smaller coordinating drop above.

Inspired by the quiet beauty of the coldest days of the year, Winter Chill captures the feeling of ice-covered landscapes, frosted mornings, and winter skies that seem to sparkle in the crisp air. The lower portion of the Drop features iridescent glass that moves from the lightest icy blue at the center into deeper blues and a rich purple-blue along the edges, creating the feeling of frozen ponds, glistening frost, and light reflecting across snow and ice.

Above the fan design, traditional streak glass creates a winter sky in shades of deep purple, rosy pink, and the palest wispy tones. The small upper Drop is nearly clear with the faintest traces of color, like a delicate icicle or a breath of frozen air suspended in the sunlight.

Winter Chill is created from 12 individually hand-cut and finished pieces of stained glass. Each piece is selected for its color, texture, and ability to transform as sunlight passes through it. The combination of iridescent glass, layered winter tones, and the Art Deco-inspired structure creates a piece that feels both delicate and dramatic.

Only 10 Winter Chill Drops will be created. Each one is handcrafted in my central Indiana studio using traditional stained glass techniques and finished with careful attention to detail. Because every piece of glass has its own natural variations, each Drop will have its own unique character.
