Fire Elemental Drop Stained Glass Suncatcher - Limited Edition with Heirloom Glass

Fire was one of the original designs in my Elemental Drops Collection, a series of geometric stained glass suncatchers inspired by the colors, textures, and qualities associated with the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

The design centered around a vintage piece of glass from my Grandpa Thomas’s collection. He practiced stained glass craft, and I grew up surrounded by his work. The studio name honors that connection, and many of my early designs were inspired by the glass and craftsmanship I grew up around.

The Fire Element featured vibrant red and orange glass inspired by the warmth, energy, and movement of flame. The geometric composition reflects the balanced lines and thoughtful design principles often found in Mission and Arts & Crafts Movement styles, while the handmade glass brought depth and variation to the piece.

Each Elemental Drop was created from six individually cut pieces of glass arranged around the vintage center diamond. The surrounding sections created a progression of color and light, allowing the texture and character of each piece of glass to shine.

This Fire Drop also included Kokomo Opalescent Glass from limited-run colors and special production batches, adding unique variations in color and texture that made each piece distinctive. Because these materials cannot be replaced, the original Elemental Drop designs will not be recreated once the remaining pieces are gone.

Originally launched through my first Kickstarter campaign, the Elemental Drops Collection helped provide the foundation for Thomas Critchlow Art Glass. These pieces remain a connection between the beginning of the studio and the work I continue creating today.

The Elemental Drops Collection was originally created as a set of four designs: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Fire is now sold out, and the remaining Earth, Air, and Water pieces are the final available examples of this original series.
